Music Video Cinematography
From concept-driven visuals to emotionally charged performance pieces, I bring a cinematic approach to music video storytelling. I focus on rhythm, tone, and atmosphere—working closely with artists and directors to develop a unique visual identity for each track. Explore some of my recent music video work below.
Colm Warren- Just Me
Just Me is a visual and emotional journey I had the privilege to bring to life as both director and cinematographer. Starring the incredible Kelsea Knox, the video weaves together evocative storytelling and rich, atmospheric cinematography that reflects the introspective tone of Colm Warren’s haunting ballad.
I focused on natural light, soft textures, and intentional composition—approaching each frame as its own piece of visual storytelling. Anna Gillespie’s beautiful set design added an organic, minimalist touch that grounded the piece in a real sense of place and feeling.
The track—written by Colm and elevated by John Byrne’s stunning string arrangement—found its visual counterpart through my lens. I aimed to keep the imagery intimate, honest, and quietly powerful. Shot on location with careful attention to tone and detail, Just Me is a project where music and image feel truly inseparable.
Junk Drawer- Loughgall Circus
Loughgall Circus is one of the most surreal, charged, and visually layered pieces I’ve worked on. Shot in the heart of Northern Ireland, the video feels like a fever dream where Elvis Presley swagger meets Jim Jones-style fervour—set against a backdrop of pastoral unease and historical weight.
As DOP and director, I leaned into a palette that felt both nostalgic and unsettling. There’s an eerie theatricality to the performances—intentional, choreographed, but always a little off-kilter. We used vintage lenses and a mix of natural and artificial light to create a texture that felt timeless, like a lost reel from an alternate past.
Working alongside 1st AC Mark Ferris, I pushed the camera to stay close, fluid, and intimate—always on the edge of something sacred or sinister.
Huge thanks to Barry Adams, Cat Hutchinson, Triona Doyle and the Lennox family for opening up their world and helping us bring this strange vision to life.
Produced by Chris W Ryan at The Meadow and mastered by Matthew Barnhart in Chicago, the track itself has a mythic quality—equal parts swagger and existential dread. My goal was to create visuals that honoured that tone: rich, haunted, and just a little bit dangerous.
Wynona Bleach- Cherrydream
Cherrydream was all about surrendering to the moment. We shot it in a single continuous take—no cuts, no resets, no safety net. Just raw energy, dreamlike chaos, and the adrenaline of capturing something real as it happened.
As both performer and part of the creative vision, I wanted this video to feel immersive and unfiltered. The camera moves like a character itself—fluid, reactive, part of the noise. It’s pure movement, light, and sound colliding in real time.
We didn’t chase perfection—we chased feeling. That rush, that blur, that heaviness in the air when a song takes over. Cherrydream is the closest we’ve come to bottling that. One take. One shot. All heart.
Rwanda Shaw – Jaded
Jaded was all about simplicity meeting emotion—letting the performance speak without overcomplicating the frame. We shot it using only natural light, chasing the soft, shifting tones of the day to wrap Rwanda’s performance in something honest and luminous.
There’s a quiet strength in the way she moves, sings, exists in the space—and I wanted the camera to hold that. No tricks. No overproduction. Just clean composition, real-time connection, and the glow of light as it naturally falls.
As a director and cinematographer, I’m always looking for that sweet spot between control and spontaneity. With Jaded, it was about creating a world that felt lived-in, vulnerable, and effortlessly stylish—just like the track itself.
